New Delhi: Speculations over Congress vice President Rahul
Gandhi are likely to end as there are reports that he will be returning
to Delhi late on Wednesday night. Rahul has been on leave since the
February 22 missing the first leg of the crucial Budget session of
Parliament. He is expected to lead an anti-land ordinance rally on 19
April.
Meanwhile, there is a divide in Congress over Rahul taking over the top reins in the party. Senior congress leader Sheila Dikshit embarrassed her party by telling PTI that there were question marks over his leadership and Sonia Gandhi was the best hope for the party's revival. However, she later clarified saying that she never said Rahul was incapable and that she meant Sonia was the most acceptable leader.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh too, had claimed that Rahul needs to take a more proactive role in politics. While commenting on the Lok Sabha election debacle, Singh said, "We lost the war of perception. Rahul didn't project himself the way Narendra Modi did. Rahul should have been more aggressive in Lok Sabha elections. He must speak everyday on the issues and speak to the media. Rahul now has to come out very strongly and go through the length and breadth of the country and connect with people on all big issues."
